چکیده

The research of the dynamics of radon in various environments, especially indoors, is of great importance in terms of protection against ionizing radiation and in designing of measures for its reduction. Research of radioactive emanations (of radon (222Rn) and thoron (220Rn)) are in the domain of radiation physics, but since a few decades ago, subject of radioactive emanation involves many other scientifi c disciplines, thus giving a multidisciplinary character to this research. Published results and development of many models to describe the behaviour of indoor radon indicate the complexity of this research, especially with models for the prediction of the variability of radon, simply because the variability depends on large number of variables. Large number of factors (such as local geology, permeability of soil, building materials used to build the buildings as well as the habits of people) impact the variation of radon, and therefore, it is important to study their correlation. In this paper, the results of correlative analysis of indoor radon and meteorological variables are presented. Furthermore, the results of multivariate classifi cation and regression analysis is presented. More details of this study can be found in [1]. Indoor radon variation depends signifi cantly on large number of factors, which include the local geThe use of multivariate analysis of the radon variability in the underground laboratory and indoor environment Jelena Filipović, Dimitrije Maletić, Vladimir Udovičić, Radomir Banjanac, Dejan Joković, Mihailo Savić, Nikola Veselinović

Evaluation of Radon Pollution in Underground Parking Lots by Discomfort Index

Introduction Recent studies of public underground parking lots showed the influence of radon concentration and the probable discomfort caused by parking cars. Materials and Methods Radon concentration was measured in semi-closed public parking lots in the six governorates of Kuwait, using Durridge RAD7radon detector (USA). Results The peak radon concentration in the parking lots of Kuwait gover...

Assessment of lung cancer risk due to indoor radon exposure in inhabitants of the state of Azad Kashmir Pakistan

Background: Several epidemiological studies conducted on underground miner’s show that exposure to elevated levels of radioactive radon gas is expected to increase the risk of lung cancer. Relative risk of lung cancer is almost linear with radon exposure. Elevated concentrations of radon are not only reported within mines but also for closed indoor environment of general public houses....

Effective Dose Rate of Radon Gas in Jooshan Hot Spring of Kerman Province

Background & Aims: Human beings are constantly exposed to different radiations that have always been recognized as a health hazard. Radon -222 and its daughter products are major sources of natural radiations and a significant total inhalation dose is related to them. Hence, the measurement of radon activity in the environment has gained an increasing importance. In this study, with the measure...

Indoor Radon Measurement in Dwellings of Khorramabad City, Iran

Introduction: Exposure to indoor radon increases the risk of lung cancer. This study examined the level of indoor radon in dwellings of Khorramabad city, by using passive alpha-track detector (CR-39) during winter of 2016. Materials and Methods: In the present study, we detected the concentration of indoor radon in 56 dwellings. A passive sampling instrument (alpha-track detector with CR-39 pol...

Indoor exposure assessment of radon in the elementary schools, Palestine

Background: Many public health agencies rank residential radon exposure as the second leading cause of lung cancer after cigarette smoking. It has been shown that the risk coefficient for lung cancer is higher for children than that for adults. Therefore, indoor radon measurements were carried out in the elementary schools of Tulkarem province, West Bank, Palestine. Materials and Methods: Two h...
